Product introduction

Hastelloy alloy plate is made of this alloy through precision processing and has excellent corrosion resistance in extreme environments such as strong acids, strong alkalis, and high temperatures. It is a benchmark for corrosion-resistant materials in industries such as chemical, environmental, and marine engineering.

Core features

1.Corrosion Resistance:

The Ni content is typically 50%-70%, providing good matrix stability. Cr forms a dense oxide film to protect against oxidative corrosion. Molybdenum (Mo) and tungsten (W) significantly enhance corrosion resistance in reducing media (such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and acetic acid). Some grades also contain Cu to enhance resistance to sulfuric and phosphoric acid, or Nb to prevent intergranular corrosion.

2. High-Temperature Corrosion and Oxidation Resistance

In high-temperature environments of 600-1000°C, it not only maintains a certain level of mechanical strength but also resists high-temperature oxidation and sulfide corrosion (such as high-temperature flue gas corrosion in the petrochemical industry).

3.Excellent mechanical properties:

It combines high strength with excellent toughness, resists brittleness even at low temperatures, and is able to withstand complex mechanical loads (such as those found in high-pressure piping and pressure vessels).

4、Processing stability

Although the alloy contains a large amount of high-melting-point elements (such as molybdenum and tungsten), which makes processing more difficult, by optimizing the composition (for example, controlling the carbon and silicon content) and processing techniques, forming processes such as rolling and welding can be achieved. In addition, some grades of the alloy can maintain corrosion resistance without complex heat treatment after welding.

Production process

The production of Hastelloy alloy plates has extremely high requirements for purity, composition uniformity, and structural control. Its core process flow can be divided into five major links: smelting → plastic processing → heat treatment → finishing and inspection.

1. Smelting: Strict control of composition and purity (a key prerequisite)

A dual process of vacuum induction melting (VIM) and electroslag remelting (ESR) is employed. Some high-end steel grades also utilize vacuum arc remelting (VAR), creating a triple process.

2.Plastic FormingOvercoming the Challenges of High-Hardness Forming

Because Hastelloy alloys (especially the B and C series) have high hardness and poor plasticity at room temperature, they require high-temperature heating and multiple rolling cycles to form.

3. Heat Treatment: Optimizing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Properties

Different heat treatment processes are used depending on the characteristics of the steel grade. Their core objectives are to eliminate internal stresses, improve the microstructure, and enhance corrosion resistance.
